What makes the perfect countryside Christmas?

Living in the hills of Herefordshire has both benefits and downfalls, but one of the nicest things to do is go for a walk in the winter when the air is crisp and clear. It’s the perfect place to spend the Christmas break for a number of reasons.

Driving home for Christmas

Are you going to go home for Christmas?  If you are, stash all your gear into one of our travel bags – Rose is a large shoulder bag that is roomy enough to double as a weekend bag and Thyme is our travel bag with multitudes of pockets for every little extra.

Find a real tree

Take yourselves down to the nearest farm shop or Christmas tree grower and pick out a real tree to decorate (don’t forget to dispose of it responsibly after Christmas!) Get the children involved in decorating too. Then add country themed presents under the Christmas tree – we recommend a roomy British tweed makeup bag or toiletry bag.

Fireside food & drink

What better way is there to spend Christmas day than by the log burner in your holiday let or home surrounded by your family and friends, eating, drinking and being merry!  If you’re lucky enough to have snowfall over Christmas you might find that you can’t get out your country lane and you’ll have to stay put! It’s also a perfect excuse to buy local and support the community.

Country walks after Christmas

If your family has a tradition of walking off your Christmas dinner, this is the place to be. Whether you are trudging through slush in your wellies behind the dogs or wading through snow in the fields, taking a walk on Boxing Day is fun. What you’ll need is a waterproof bag to carry that extra jumper or bottle of water – try a waxed cotton messenger bag or sturdy eco-friendly recycled inner tube bag or backpack

Wherever you spend this Christmas remember to wrap up warm and enjoy!
